Politicians have no business making decisions about women’s health care. As a lawyer and legislator, I have worked for decades to protect access to abortion and contraception in North Carolina.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, I’ve been fighting in Congress against extreme Republican attacks on women’s fundamental right to make decisions about our own bodies. I will not stop until Roe v. Wade is codified into federal law and every single woman – no matter her zip code – has full access to reproductive care.

In Congress, I have been a champion for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. My legislation that addresses the nationwide shortage of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), who are instrumental in providing medical care to survivors of sexual assault and collecting forensic evidence, was signed into law by President Biden in 2022. I will continue fighting for access to justice and health care for all survivors in North Carolina and beyond.
