Today, Congresswomen Deborah Ross (NC-02) and Valerie Foushee (NC-04) confirmed that the United States Postal Service (USPS) will begin taking initial steps to implement centralized mail delivery service in Research Triangle Park (RTP) following calls for action from Ross and members of the North Carolina congressional delegation.
According to USPS, a final decision on mail delivery in RTP will depend on whether a series of conditions can be met. The Research Triangle Foundation and USPS leaders have begun working together to implement the necessary changes to begin the process to institute centralized mail delivery. In September, Congresswoman Ross led Senator Thom Tillis, Senator Ted Budd, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, and 110 RTP businesses in a letter urging USPS to implement centralized mail delivery service to the entire RTP campus. After decades of growth, RTP has become the largest research park in North America, with 55,000 employees and over 375 companies spread across 7,000 acres of land. Yet, despite its vast size and economic impact, RTP currently relies on a single U.S. Post Office that does not offer mail delivery to the RTP area.

After hearing from over a hundred businesses and constituents, I’m confident that RTP will move quickly to meet USPS’s requirements.”

In August 2022, Congresswoman Ross and former Congressman Price initially requested that USPS implement mail delivery at the RTP post office. Following a lack of action by USPS to address the issue adequately, the members then joined the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform in demanding action.
