Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) announced that five of her requested Member-Designated Transportation Projects were included in the House-passed Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act. Included in the legislation is funding for projects across Wake County that would improve local transportation infrastructure and transit systems, enhance public safety and accessibility, and spur job creation.
Congresswoman Ross’ projects included in the INVEST in America Act are $1 million in funding for the Town of Holly Springs Avent Ferry Road Realignment; $9 million in funding for the GoRaleigh Transit System GoRaleigh/GoWake Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Facility; $4,984,800 in funding for the North Carolina Department of Transportation Black Creek Greenway in Cary; $2,560,000 in funding for the NC Department of Transportation Fuquay-Varina Townwide ITS/Signal System; and $208,000 in funding for the NC Department of Transportation Airport Boulevard Sidewalk in Morrisville.
“I’m thrilled that these essential projects in Wake County were included in the INVEST in America Act,” said Congresswoman Ross. “For too long, Congress has failed to act boldly when it comes to our infrastructure, leaving our country with congested roads, failing sewer systems, lead in our pipes, unsafe bridges, infrequent and unreliable bus service, and environmentally unsustainable transportation systems. These projects represent transformational investments in modernized infrastructure here in Wake County, and I will continue working with my colleagues from both parties to get this critical legislation to President Biden’s desk.”
The INVEST in America Act must pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Biden for these projects to receive funding.
