WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives G. K. Butterfield (NC-01), Deborah Ross (NC-02), David E. Price (NC-04), Kathy Manning (NC-06), and Alma Adams (NC-12), the Democratic members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, issued a joint statement supporting the North Carolina Court of Appeals’ decision to delay the candidate filing period to a later date:
“The Court of Appeals has grasped the enormous constitutional challenge that has been presented by this clearly gerrymandered congressional map. The effect of the decision is to simply delay the filing period and not the general election. This will allow the case to be decided based on the facts and the law.”
