North Carolinians are all too familiar with the devastating effects of the climate crisis – from extreme flooding to increased threats from hurricanes. Investing in clean energy technology is one of the best resources in our toolbox to combat climate change – now and for future generations.

Prior to serving in Congress, I was a clean energy lawyer, helping to create thousands of jobs in the renewable energy sector and working to build a sustainable future for North Carolina.

In Congress, I have championed the development of North Carolina's offshore wind energy potential. My legislation to overturn the 10-year moratorium on offshore wind leasing off the coasts of North Carolina and other states in the Southeast was signed into law in the historic Inflation Reduction Act

I have also been fighting to expand North Carolina’s clean energy economy and infrastructure. My bill to encourage the development, adoption, and integration of electric vehicles was signed into law as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

In addition, I have consistently worked across the aisle to protect our people and environment from the harmful effects of “forever chemicals,” also known as PFAS, as well as to hold polluters accountable.

As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and Ranking Member of the Environment Subcommittee, I am fighting every day to advance commonsense solutions to preserve North Carolina’s priceless natural heritage and protect our environment for generations to come.
