Mail delivery service is finally at Research Triangle Park.
Leaders with the Research Triangle Foundation and others celebrated the launch of USPS mail delivery during a ceremony on Thursday.
“This has been about 3 years in the making to get to this point where we’re able to celebrate the beginning of mail delivery at RTP,” said Travis Crayton, Vice President for Planning and Public Police for the Research Triangle Foundation.
“Our small businesses it was a real burden for them to have to send one of maybe two or four employees to pick up their mail daily, wait in a really long line,” said Crayton. “For our bigger companies they were running into regulatory issues where they needed to be able to provide a physical address for certain regulatory reasons and the post office was beginning to not accommodate that and we were running into serious issues where we needed to address that.”
As RTP has grown so has its needs.
“We have small businesses, again we’re going to have residential, we have packages that come in and that little post office has been completely overwhelmed and people need their every day mail delivery services,” said Representative Deborah Ross of North Carolina’s 2nd District.
The Research Triangle Foundation says they’re rolling out mail delivery service in phases
“Back in November our largest companies that just have a single mail drop they began receiving delivery, our first multitenant campuses began receiving delivery about a month ago and we’re continuing to work with other property managers in the park to install their mailboxes to begin receiving delivery,” said Crayton.
He says they’ll continue that rollout mail delivery over the next few months.
