Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement on the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. This week, Congresswoman Ross joined her House Democratic colleagues in signing a petition to force a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.

“Today is a painful reminder that access to safe, legal abortion is no longer guaranteed. In just one week, North Carolina’s extreme abortion ban is set to go into effect – a direct result of the Supreme Court’s decision to turn the clock back 50 years and strip women of our fundamental freedoms. Republicans in North Carolina and nationwide have made it clear that they don’t plan to stop here. Politicians have no business interfering in women’s health care decisions. I won’t stop fighting against these dangerous attacks on women, our bodies, and our health care.”
