Today, U.S. Representatives Deborah Ross (NC-02) and Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Budget Request which recommends $77.8 million in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding for the Wake Bus Rapid Transit Southern Corridor Project in Raleigh:
“We’re pleased to see that the FTA’s FY 2024 Annual Report on Funding Recommendations proposes $77.8 million in funding for the City of Raleigh’s Wake Bus Transit Southern Corridor project. This project, which is recommended for funding in the President’s FY24 Budget request, would help connect downtown Raleigh with downtown Garner and major job and activity centers, help address existing travel demand, facilitate ridership growth, and create good-paying jobs in North Carolina. This is a big step forward and we look forward to working in conjunction with federal, state, and local officials and stakeholders to get this project across the finish line.”
In 2022, Congresswoman Ross and former Congressman David Price secured $35 millionfor Wake County Bus Rapid Transit, and in 2021, they secured $5.4 million in American Rescue Plan funding for Bus Rapid Transit.
