Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) voted to pass the Continuing Resolution to fund the government, which includes $18 billion for the FEMA Disaster Relief Fund (DRF). This funding will provide swift aid to communities across the nation that have been impacted by Hurricane Ian and other natural disasters. This funding would become available to North Carolina if President Biden issues a Major Disaster Declaration for the state.

“As Hurricane Ian moves through the United States and affects millions of people in North Carolina and across the country, it’s critical that we give our first responders and local officials the resources they need to respond quickly,” said Congresswoman Ross. “People are relying on their government for help. In the days ahead as we assess the extent of the damage, I am praying for all communities impacted by Hurricane Ian and hoping these funds will help bring a swift recovery.”

The Continuing Resolution includes $18.8 billion for the FEMA Disaster Relief Fund, increasing available resources in the fund to approximately $35 billion. The legislation also includes $12.35 billion in assistance for Ukraine, $1 billion for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and more.
