Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released a new report that shows historic economic growth and lowered costs for residents of North Carolina’s Second Congressional District thanks to a number of laws that she helped pass, including the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and American Rescue Plan.
“Since coming to Congress, I’ve fought for policies that will improve the lives of people in Wake County,” said Congresswoman Ross. “In just two years, we have enacted new laws that have helped North Carolinians recover from the pandemic, rebuild, and thrive. These bills reach people from every walk of life – from seniors struggling to afford health care to small business owners trying to keep their doors open. I’m proud of everything that we have accomplished and will keep fighting for legislation that invests in the well-being and success of our people.”
The new report from the Joint Economic Committee shows:
- 27,900 jobs and 1,700 manufacturing jobs have been created in NC-02 since President Biden came into office.
- In 2021, 40,000 workers in NC-02 were employed in clean energy and emerging sectors of the economy, and an additional 49,000 worked in occupations that will be increasingly in demand as the United States transitions to cleaner, more secure energy.
- 16,300 applications to start a new business were filed in NC-02 in 2021, up from an average of 8,800 per year pre-pandemic.
- 61,000 people in NC-02 will maintain access to affordable health care coverage.
