Washington, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to Congress:

“Today, we heard from a man whose people are under attack. President Zelensky shared directly with the United States Congress his pain and the pain of a nation as they endure a continued full-scale invasion by Russia. In the face of fear and uncertainty, the brave Ukrainian people have not given up and continue the fight for freedom and for peace.

“President Biden and Congress have taken unprecedented steps to impose consequences on Russia, including crippling sanctions, banning Russian oil and energy products, and sending billions in aid to Ukraine. However, we were reminded today that it is not enough. President Zelensky made himself clear with a direct plea, saying, “I call on you to do more.” And we must. I will keep fighting in Congress for increased military, humanitarian, and economic aid, as well as for more severe consequences to hold Russia, and its leaders, accountable for this vicious assault. The people of Ukraine need to know that America has their backs.”
