Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement after the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol’s hearing and vote to subpoena former President Donald J. Trump:

“Today, my colleagues on the January 6th Committee continued to present the truth of what happened on one of the darkest days in our history. Throughout these hearings, the committee has presented definitive evidence of the former President’s direct involvement in the attack on the Capitol. For weeks, President Trump and his closest advisors did everything in their power to prevent the peaceful transfer of power – spreading baseless claims that the election was stolen, coordinating a plan to stay in office, pressuring election officials across the country, and ultimately fanning the flames of violence on January 6th.

“I thank my colleagues on the committee for their relentless pursuit of the truth as well as the witnesses who came forward and stood up for American democracy in the face of extraordinary pressure. Now, it is former President Donald Trump’s turn to answer to the American people. He must be held accountable.”
