Raleigh, NC – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement after the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) voted to advance the nomination of Michael Regan, North Carolina’s top environmental regulator, to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“Michael Regan is a wonderful choice to lead the EPA. He has an exemplary track record in North Carolina and has made significant contributions to protect our state’s environment and natural resources, advance the quality of air, land, and water, promote environmental justice, and more,” said Congresswoman Ross.

“Under his leadership, North Carolina was able to take major steps forward to address serious environmental issues, including coal ash pollution and PFAS contamination, and I am confident he will continue to be a strong leader on the national stage. I look forward to the full Senate vote so he can be confirmed and get to work as quickly as possible. We know climate change is an urgent threat, and I have faith Michael Regan will address this challenge swiftly.”

The nomination now moves to the Senate floor for a final vote.
