Raleigh, North Carolina - U.S. Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) announced Raleigh district office and senior staff hires in the D.C. office. Ross is building a talented, diverse team of experienced policy experts, communicators, district experts, and constituent advocates who will deliver for North Carolina.

I’m pleased to introduce a diverse staff that understands the needs of the district and is dedicated to supporting the people of North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Ross. “My team is here to assist – if you need help with a federal agency, a service academy nomination, or more, know that my staff is on hand and ready to serve you.”
Congresswoman Ross also announced the locations of her Washington D.C. and North Carolina offices.
- In Washington, Ross' office is located at 1208 Longworth House Office Building.
- In North Carolina, Ross' office is located at 300 Fayetteville Street Raleigh, NC.
District staff hires include:
Caroline Spencer, District Director: Caroline is a former public-school teacher in North Carolina and longtime political staffer. She has served in various roles, including campaign manager for the successful campaigns of Rep. Deborah Ross and North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls. Caroline attended UNC-Chapel Hill for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Sonia Barnes, Director of Civic Engagement: Sonia has over 30 years of experience in community engagement, having previously served in the offices of Rep. David Price, Rep. Bob Etheridge, and Gov. Mike Easley. Sonia is a longtime Wake County resident and has deep ties to the community beginning with Shaw University.
Nadia Alston, Director of Constituent Services: Nadia has over 15 years of experience in constituent services as a member of Rep. David Price’s staff and faithfully served his constituency. A long-time resident of Wake County, Nadia graduated from Saint Paul’s College, HBCU with a BA in English.
DC staff hires:
Matthew Lee, Chief of Staff: Matt is a 12-year veteran of Capitol Hill and has served in a variety of positions in the House of Representatives, most recently as Chief of Staff to Rep. Chris Pappas.
Shirley Dai, Legislative Director: Shirley is an attorney with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. She was most recently a Senior Policy Advisor to Congresswoman Donna Shalala on the Congressional Oversight Commission.
Maddie Carlos, Communications Director: With five years of Capitol Hill experience, Maddie previously worked on U.S. Senator Donnelly’s (D-IN) press team. Most recently, Maddie served as the Communications Director for Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06).
