Washington D.C. – Yesterday, Representatives Deborah Ross (NC-02) and Peter Meijer (MI-03) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate November 10th as “National Science Day.” This national observance would provide an opportunity to recognize and celebrate American scientific achievements and inspire the next generation to continue this honorable and vital tradition.
“It is past time for us to properly celebrate the work of American scientists. Scientific research leads to knowledge, products, and processes that continually improve our daily lives and keep us safe and secure,” said Congresswoman Ross. “I am proud to represent a district that includes much of the Research Triangle Park, the largest research park in the United States and a premier global science and innovation center. RTP houses hundreds of companies, including science and technology firms, government agencies, academic institutions, startups, and nonprofits.
“The academic institutions in my district not only serve to educate undergraduate and graduate students in scientific fields and provide them with the opportunity to engage in research while at school, but also feed a critical pipeline of talent that goes on to work on cutting edge scientific research nationwide. I’m grateful for Congressman Meijer’s partnership on this resolution.”

Ross serves as a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where she has co-led legislation to establish a national science and technology strategy.
