Raleigh, NC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation introduced by Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) to revise title 51 of United States Code on National and Commercial Space Programs as necessary to keep the title current, and to make technical amendments to improve the code. Specifically, this legislation, H.R. 7339, fixes cross references and heading names, removes obsolete language, and clarifies some phrases. Congresswoman Ross spoke in support of the legislation on the House floor earlier today.

“Updating the US Code periodically to make these technical and conforming changes helps ensure the law is accessible to everyday Americans,” Congresswoman Ross said in her floor speech. “The American people deserve a code that is comprehensible without specialized knowledge, and making the updates in this bill will help make that goal a reality.”

As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, Congresswoman Ross has been a champion of legislation to bolster the nation’s space programs. The bill was referred to the House Judiciary Committee, on which Congresswoman Ross also serves, and was passed unanimously out of committee by voice vote.
