Raleigh NC – Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02), a practicing attorney for more than 25 years and former civil rights attorney, announced that she has been appointed to two subcommittees of the House Judiciary Committee.

The panels are the Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, and the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet.

“I’m honored to serve on these two subcommittees,” said Congresswoman Ross. “As a civil rights lawyer, I fought for equality, justice, and progress. As a state legislator, I chaired the House Judiciary 1 Committee. I am proud to bring my decades of experience to advance civil rights, expand voting rights, and protect our constitutional rights. Moreover, as one of the representatives from the Research Triangle, I look forward to advancing intellectual property laws that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth.”

The Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties has jurisdiction over constitutional rights, constitutional amendments, federal civil rights, claims against the United States, non-immigration private claims bills, ethics in government, tort liability, and legal reform generally.

The Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet has jurisdiction over the administration of the U.S. Courts, the federal rules of evidence, civil and appellate procedure, judicial ethics, patents, trademark law, and information technology.
