Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) released the following statement on an announced agreement between North Carolina House and Senate Republican leadership to expand Medicaid in the state:

“North Carolinians have been waiting more than a decade for the health care they deserve. I’m grateful that Republican leadership has finally stepped up to the plate and reached an agreement on Medicaid expansion. North Carolinians are done waiting, and I hope lawmakers move quickly to see this long-overdue policy signed into law as soon as possible.”

Congresswoman Ross previously served in the North Carolina General Assembly for more than a decade where she fought for Medicaid expansion. In Congress, she has worked with colleagues in other non-expansion states to introduce the Medicaid Saves Lives Act, which would create a federal Medicaid lookalike program for states that have still not expanded Medicaid.
